Description: Here's a delightfully illustrated First Edition copy from 1908 in the uncommon original dust jacket: The Charm of the English Village by P. H. Ditchfield, illustrated by Sydney R. Jones. This volume offers a lovely tour of English country villages in an earlier era. Both the book and the jacket are in Very Good condition. The paper jacket has light edgewear with a small spot near the top of the spine and a scrape near the bottom slightly obscuring a couple of letters of the publisher name. There's an old tape reinforcement to the back of the jacket at the very top of the spine. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. The decorated cloth covers of the book are generally bright with light soiling, bumped corners and spine ends and a lightly faded spine. The front cover is slightly bowed. There is an attractive bookplate on the front pastedown and a corresponding name in ink to the front endpaper. There's a bit of foxing to the first and last pages but rest of contents is clean except for an occasional spot or smudge mark. Page gutters are separating in some places but the binding is firm. Minor cracks to hinges. There is a color frontispiece with tissue guard. 167 pp. + 4 pp. publisher catalogue. A nice example of a book rarely seen with its dust jacket!
