Description: CAST IRON BOOKEND SAILING SHIP DOORSTOP CARRACK BRONZE LOOK PATINA PAPERWEIGHT This heavy bookend is far more attractive than most of the similar cast iron sailing ships of its era from 1920-1949. Its patina is gorgeous because the plain cast raised relief piece was enhanced with a coppery tone. Weighs more than 2 pounds. Has had green felt removed from base. Could easily be replaced. Very little if any rust. See photos. THIS IS ONE BOOKEND. Carracks were sailing ships of the 14thβ17th centuries that were usually built with three masts, the mainmast and foremast being rigged with square sails and the mizzenmast rigged with a fore-and-aft triangular lateen sail.
