Description: Brooklyn, NEW YORK CITY - Record-O-Fone - Answering Machein - ADVERTISING - 1967: In the early, 1960s, Record-O-Fone, a well-designed and built uni, was for sale to the general public. At the time Bell Telephone had a policy of NOT permitting customer-owned equipment to be connected directly to "Bell" lines without the use of a telephone company provided and leased interface device! After this time, the “Carter Phone” decission, brought against the phone companeys, was won which allowed the direct connection of devices similar to the ones used today. The Record-o-Phone did NOT use casset tapes and required a service call whenever the tapes wore out or broke. This Model was able to remotely playback messages using a two-tone sequencial remote interface that was about 1″ X 2″ X 5″. This postcard card was a promtional card from a company in Brooklyn soliciting the names and address of person's interested in the answering machein. The card is copyrighted 1966 and has a hand written date of 5/11/67. The card is in good condition.
