This book is so well designed! My son loves math, so I'm not too surprised that he is devouring the Fractions section, a new subject for him. He struggles with writing, so we hang out in the hammock while he works on Spelling & Vocabulary pages, Reading pages (which require writing to respond to), Writing pages, and Literary Arts pages. This is so much better than just sitting in front of screens trying to accomplish schoolwork online. He's enjoying it! And we can have fun together while he works on it.I am impressed with how well the pages are thought through. For instance, after a Spelling page (where he circles the correct spelling of a word in a sentence), at the bottom are boxes for different "short a sounds" and "short o sounds", etc, with corresponding lines for how many vocabulary words have those sounds in them. At the bottom of the boxes it show the various spellings that can create those sounds ("a" "ea"). This was designed so well, I have no issue pointing out the parts to him and pushing him to do a little extra work to complete the page. Usually, when I try to explain "well usually we pronounce it this way, this time we pronounce it this other way..." and I just end up saying "English is confusing." This book is great. I highly recommend.”“Use for homeschool HIGHLY recommend Love these books! I started using a different all in one curriculum and switched to this. These are great! I use for 3rd and 5th grades. They do need some supplementation so we do other assignments in combination with this. But these are our main source of schoolwork. Each lesson builds so you can go in order through each subject, and it covers a variety of material so it's sufficient. The book is rather thin so we do one page from each subject and I try to correlate relative assignments or discussion with some of them. Each has a "brain box" which is VERY useful! This is like the teacher instruction. It gives a great explanation of how to do the work and then gives an example including a breakdown of the example given. These are incredibly helpful for ME because I often need a review and this gives me everything I need to teach the lesson to my kids. Sometimes they don't understand the brain box and require me to paraphrase in a way they need. I LOVE the brain boxes. I'm so glad we got these books, were having a great year and a great time with these, and most importantly I know educationally my children are right where they need to be, and are caught up from a lack of education during our previous "virtual" school through the district. They are learning more this way in a shorter time. I was nervous to homeschool, afraid they wouldn't get the education they need, but we are all doing well and enjoying our time together in the process. It's a win-win.”“They are great. They are colorful My son and daughter started with these at the 2nd and 4th grade level. Now he's in the 3rd grade book and she's in the 5th grade book. Wish we'd started at the Pre-K level though! They are great. They are colorful, instructions are clear and the pages aren't overloaded with boring repetition. As a homeschooling mom, I feel good having my kids go through these books as a supplement and record of some of what we do. We do a TON of life-learning and hands-on activities, tons of art/music/theater and many field trips. I don't keep detailed records of our hands-on and life-learning because I'm not required to, and I don't feel like it'd be a good use of time. But I still like seeing these books completed as we finish them and I'm saving them to show the kids what they've accomplished. And as a reminder that we've got the basics covered well. I like being able to have the kids do Brain Quest in addition to our other activities and they typically enjoy BQ and find it fun. I do wish BQ would beef up the social studies and science sections of the books. They are the most fun and also the shortest. Other than that, these are perfect and I'll keep buying them. Currently hoping BQ might publish some beyond 6th grade. I'd buy them!!” “Book is good The book is great, just be careful you do not buy one that is already used.Awesome Book!! I love all these books and my daughter could always learn a lot with them! I can't wait to start the Brain Quest 3 next year! It arrived much before the expected date perfectly packed!Age 9 to 10 and class 3 to 4th good book Nice book for kids for the age group in India for age group 9to 10 years or 3 to 4th classWONDERFUL!!! - remember that it is focused on the US curriculum Purchased for a student who passes to a third grade and who can practice the English language. At first I had my doubts that without mastering the language, I thought we should start with the book “Grade 1" but no, always with the guide of the father it is possible to complete the topics without problems. The chapters of Units of Measurement and Money will have to adapt as they use the English metric system and the US dollar respectively; history? it will be interesting, apart from that the whole book has been great. Some topics seem very “basic” at first (like multiplication tables) but we realize that they are great as an introduction - remembering that our goal is to practice English. Very didactic and fun with just the right amount of information per “topic” to keep the focus without getting too tired.”
