Description: A lovely vintage English estate 9k gold amethyst solitaire ring, hallmarks for London 1968. This fabulous vintage 1960s solid 9k yellow gold ring has a beautiful oval faceted 6 carat natural amethyst which glows the most stunning light lilac purple when it touches the light, the amethyst set solitaire style with four double prongs over an open gallery with pretty circular decorations, the ring with knife edge shoulders and a classic band-gorgeous! The ring has full English hallmarks inside the band with maker 'G&TJ' (established in 1954), '9 .375', date letter 'n' for 1968 and the London leopard's head. The ring tests for 9k gold. The ring is approximately a size 6 1/2. The amethyst measures approximately 14mm x 12.4mm x 6.6mm or about 6 carats. The ring rises about 7mm above the finger and weighs approximately 3.5 grams. The ring is very good condition with general wear. Seen under a loupe the amethyst has a tiny flat nick to the amethyst edge and light general wear.
