Description: Absolutely beautiful copy of the classic 1956 old-time country / folk masterpiece, The Appalachian Minstrel by the great Bascom Lunsford, on Washington Records VM-736. One of the great treasures of American folk music, Lunsford was the “real deal”, a banjo playing balladeer from the mountains, who had recorded in the 1920s and was later recorded by the Library of Congress as a valuable repository for old American folk songs. This was one of his great recordings, even though it is way later. He sounds just like he did 30 years earlier, and the songs are incredible windows into a lost time. This is a folk and early country masterpiece. And a beautiful copy. The disc is very nearly perfectly mint and plays flawlessly, and the textured cover is almost pristine as well, with a lightly fraying corner at the lower left and maybe just a tiny bit of very very minor cornerwear on the others, but barely. No seam splits and no ring wear. Crisp and clean; by far the best copy I have ever seen. Near impossible to beat.
