Description: Antique Rochester Optical & Camera Cyclone Senior Box Camera Collectible Rarity “Rare” I hate that word. But there’s not another one on eBay. Seriously I do research when listing and I can’t tell you how many times I look up a item and there’s 15 to 20 available and some yahoo has the nerve to call his listing “rare”, damnit Bro but if I have more than ten other choices it ain’t rare. I don’t care what your choice of descriptor is, be it rare or scarce or hard to find most of these sellers are selling you a 57 Chevy and calling it rare, dude it’s not a Tucker of which only 50 were produced. These folks are used car salesmen that are too lazy to actually get a more honorable job such as selling used cars. Rant over, pardon my emotional outburst. And now on to the actual substantive content of the description. The condition is somewhat compromised, then again better than what I’ve been able to find. There’s rust and paint loss and a generally dirty appearance. Damnit but this thing is more than a hundred years old and hasn’t been cleaned recently until today before the photo shoot. If you dig old school photography, make that older school photography. This is a very interesting and dare I say collectible item. Apparently the previous owner (Grant M. Haist) thought so and his collection was impressive, as was his résumé. If you wish to know more about Grant M. Haist the following is from his obituary. Grant Haist was Senior Research Associate at the Eastman Kodak Research Laboratories in Rochester, New York for 32 years before retiring in 1983. He was active in both technical matters and photographic affairs. He has 28 U.S. patents, two books and many technical articles. His photographic work has appeared in National Geographic, National Wildlife, Smithsonian, Kodak Publications and numerous other publications. Fellowships from Royal Society of Great Britain, Photographic Society of America and Society for Imaging Science and Technology have honored his accomplishments. Grant began collecting cameras and photographic books in 1969 and has through the years amassed an extensive collection of Kodak cameras and equipment and Kodak Literature.
