Description: Here we have a stunning mocha ware tankard dating to circa1820. The tankard is decorated in a pattern of well-defined blue and black slip bands with three inlaid rouletting bands. The tankard also has a period stepped pedestal base and an applied strap handle anchored with foliate terminals. This stunning tankard measures 5” in height by 3 ½” in width across the rim. The tankard is in excellent condition with only a small chip at the rim and glaze flaking to the top band with no other damage or repairs. This tankard is similar to a magnificent tankard shown on page 37 in Jonathan Rickard’s definitive book “MOCHA and related dipped wares, 1770-1939”. This is one of many wonderful pieces of mocha ware I am offering that would enhance and be highly prized in any collection. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
