Antique Georgian Black Transfer Staffordshire Plate The Sentinel Boy & Dog c1825

Description: For sale is this charming black transfer child's plate. It was produced in the Staffordshire region of England in the first part of the 19th century between 1809 and 1834. I took the frame apart to clean the plate and frame and noticed that it is an ABC plate with the alphabet in relief on the top side of the plate. This is obscured by the frame. The frame is solid mahogany and measures about 6 7/8 inches square. The diameter of the plate is about 6 5/8 inches and the total weight is about 360 grams. The plate is in good condition with no cracks or chips. the mahogany frame has been broken and repaired with some loss. The old string on top of the frame has broken since I took the photos, sadly. It's a very decorative piece which would make a great Christening present or would look great in a child's bedroom!
