Description: Original 1858 complete 9 volume set of "The Letters of Horace Walpole, Earl of Orford" which is illustrated with some nice black and white plates. The books are overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age. They appear to have been professionally rebacked at some point in the past. The covers have some mild wear with a little chipping to a few of the spine labels and a little wear to the extremities of some of the spines. The bindings are all good and sound. The interiors are lightly toned from age with scattered foxing and occasional mild staining. There are some chips and tears to the title page of volume 8 and just a few other pages within the set with some other marginal chips or tears which does not affect the text. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a creased page corner, light bit of soiling or grubbiness, etc. The books measure approximately 8 3/4 inches by 5 3/4 inches.
