This is the one Kwacha note issued based on the Reserve Bank of Malawi Act of 1964. The note was issued 1st April 1988. The note is red-brown on multicolored underprint. It depicts the image of Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, the president of Malawi in the period 1961-1994 to the right of the front. The front also has the image of fishermen on a boat on lake Malawi. The note is signed by the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi at the time of issue. The back of the note has the same color scheme as the front and depicts the image of men working on cultivating tobacco in a field with hills in the background. The note has a watermark depicting a standing rooster. The note has a solid security thread to the right of center. This particular note is dated 1st April 1988 and has the serial number G/97 399969 displayed twice in black on the front.
