Description: Moby Dick by Herman Melville, published by the Easton Press in 1977, the first Easton Press publication of this work which has undergone many reprints and remains in print to this day in essentially the same form. This edition is quite regularly used in advertisements for Easton Press due to its highly attractive gilt design encompassing both boards and the spine with all edges gilt. Easton Press are a United States based publishing company who produce high quality books which are fully bound in real leather with all edges gilt. They use 22kt gold in their detailing and have many other luxurious features such as a silk page marker, pages sewn in not glued, acid-neutral paper, and often include original illustrations commissioned just for their editions (though not always). They predominantly publish classics and are best known for their '100 Greatest Books' series, but also publish other works such as science fiction, modern classics, americana, fine facsimile editions, deluxe limited editions, signed editions, etc.-------------------Condition: Near Mint -The spine is a little white in spots. I believe leather conditioner would shine it right up. We prefer to show the book in its original state to all buyers. Without defect. Gilt fine. Page edges are fine and without any scratches. Gilt is bright and shows well. No issues with joints or hinges with the binding strong and secure. No shelf lean. No attached bookplates or ownership inscriptions. Quite appropriate blue coloured endpapers & pastedowns are very attractive and rather high quality. Page marker fine, also a rather appropriate blue color.
