Description: 1962 incoming Belgian taxed mail: 2 Apr 1962 postmarked air mailed cover sent from BRUSSELS to guest at Dan Hotel in TEL AVIV & franked 7 Bf - but found to be under-paid & marked for tax by the Belgian post office, charging the cover 13 gold centimes for twice the deficient postage. In Israel the post office converted the gold centimes fee per the period exchange rate of 1 agora : 1g ctm, reflecting the Feb. 1962 devaluation of the Israeli currency to 3IL : 1USD, and charged the cover 13 agorot, apparently levied on 2 separate occasions at TEL AVIV-87 (Nordau Street branch post office, which serviced the hotel), once on 5 April using 2x 0.01L & 0.10L 1961 Zodiac Ba #204/209 stamps + again 8 days later on 13 April, the missing 0.01L; the manuscript comment "copied 14/4" written on front refers to the notice the post office issued to the addressee to come & pay for the letter; opened roughly at top. --- Most of our merchandise ships out from Israel | orders are combined | additional items are charged 75c: DOMESTIC services available are Registered mail (default) and courier mail.
