Description: 1960s Yonezawa Japan Tin Battery Operated Talking Robot With Original Box. Tin battery-operated & friction powered robot which was made in Japan by Yonezawa in 1965. This robot is battery-operated for sound & friction powered for movement. The talking functionality hardly ever works on these robots with almost all examples being broken which makes it so rare to find one that actually speaks. This awesome example looks like new old stock & speaks beautifully! Broadcasts 4 different messages LOUD and clear. I AM THE ATOMIC POWERED ROBOT… I AM BULLETPROOF… I AM A MIGHTY MAN… I AM LEAVING NOW… After testing the robot with batteries, it does exactly as described above and is in FULLY WORKING condition. The robot looks like it has hardly ever been played with and looks like new old stock. There are a few small scratches on the base plate battery cover. The friction works well and he speaks loud and clear all four phrases when you push the yellow button on his chest. Make sure you have activated the switch on his back to ON for the talking function to work and ensure that you turn the switch to OFF and remove the battery when not in use (as stated on the box). There are no cracks or marks in his head visor with "the engine room" visible inside. The robot is accompanied by its original box and all inserts which is in excellent condition for its age showing very minimal signs of wear and creasing to ends, corners and sides. This is the first time we have seen one with it's head and chest protective insert as well as shoulder and base tray for the wheels. A very fine boxed example of a classic Yonezawa Robot, the best we have seen on sale. Approx. 29cm tall. Requires 1 x D cell battery (not included).
