Description: I have here for sale a book entitled THE ELEPHANT AND THE KANGAROO by T. H. White (famous for the Sword in the Stone series) and published by Jonathan Cape, London, 1948. First edition. This book tells the story of Mr White, an Englishman who is staying on a country farm in Ireland owned and run by the O'Callaghans. White distinguishes himself as "a sensible Englishman" and an Atheist, until the Archangel Michael visits the farm and instructs Mr. White to build an ark. The author goes into length describing how Mr. White builds the ark. "The author's funniest novel" (Crane, p. 134), it was first published in America the previous year. Bound in mint green cloth hardboards with green lettering to front board and spine, and small green illustration to front board. Bumped to head and tail of spine, and heavily sunned to spine. Boards firm and binding tight. Pages clean. This book is in very good overall condition. 222 pages. 20 x 13.5 cm.
