This speaker box was originally used at one the Wehrenberg Theatre drive-in movie theater locations in the St. Louis, Missouri area. The first Wehrenberg drive-in opened in 1948 as Ronnie's Drive-In; the last, the I-44 Drive-In, opened in 1972 in Valley Park and closed in 1984. The box is stamped with the WEHRENBERG name, theoretically to deter theft. Before the advent of stereo radios, patrons would steal speaker boxes and mount one on each side of the back window shelf in their car...creating a "stereo" radio! The prior owner of this item cut the cord and removed it from the drive-in one night. We discovered this speaker box in Ohio. A great addition to your drive-in movie theater memorabilia collection! CONDITION DETAILS: VERY GOOD. Unrestored. Worked when the prior owner cut the cord and removed it from the theatre.
