Description: 1922-D $1 Silver Peace Dollar - Massive Obverse Die Break - SKU-D4614The main photo shows the massive die break spanning from the rim through the Y in LIBERTY and into Liberty's hair. The break forms two different levels on either side of the break in the field - this might be hard to observe in the photograph and due to the circulation. At this point in the circulation of the coin, a very thin die crack would be all but worn away - the fields would remain level as the die was largely intact. A die break is many degrees beyond - the die is actually splitting apart and portions of the die begin to sink on either side of the break, forming multiple levels.
