Description: This 8 x 10 Empire State dry plate camera was manufactured in the late 1800's by Rochester Optical. The camera is in excellent condition: wood, bellows, brass, etc. The camera is made of mahogany and cherry, with tongue- in-groove joints. All numbers match, and the lens board is of course original. The back is reversible and can be oriented for either portrait or landscape photography. Original brass fittings and brass screws throughout. Shutter and all latches, knobs and gears are all working. Bellows are almost like new condition. The lens needs a good cleaning /service. The ground glass focusing plate is chipped in the corners. Front standard slides easily along the rack and pinion focusing rail, and the camera folds up perfectly. The camera comes with its original short version tan canvas carrying case which is in good condition. Please look carefully at the pictures.
