It is from the 1882 edition of Stieler's Hand Atlas, published in Gotha by Justus Perthes, although it has a date of 1881 in small print on the map. It is by A. Petermann as stated in the upper left margin and in the title area. The title of the atlas appears in the upper right margin and the publishing info "Gotha: Justus Perthes" is shown in the bottom center margin. The map is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. Petermann's maps are some of the most detailed of the period. He was very influential in establishing a new style of German cartography that focused on accuracy and new discoveries as well as aesthetics. Size: The map image measures approximately 13 by 16 inches on a 15 by 18 1/2" page as seen in the pic with a wide margin all around for framing as seen in the main pic.Condition: The map is in Fair to Good condition, blank on the reverse, printed on heavy paper with original hand outlining and a centerfold as issued. There is some obvious darkening along the bottom half of the centerfold, otherwise it is very clean. The pics are of the actual map.
