Previous ownership by Robert E. Schofield (1923-2011), an eminent historian of science and technology. In 1941, Schofield attended Princeton University on a full scholarship and studied physics. Was drafted in 1944 and joined the Technical Services Unit of the Army at Oak Ridge Tennessee as a research assistant on the atomic bomb project. Honorably discharged in 1946.
