Description: Exquisitely fragrant deep velvety purple, almost black Iris flowers. Grows well in shady environments, along with areas of heavy moisture. Thrives along banks and streams, but not a must. Follow germination instructions carefully - they aren't difficult to germinate, just require a few extra steps and patience. Well worth the effort! Then place the baggie in the fridge for 6 weeks. After this cold treatment, place soil and seed in a community pot or tray and water in gently. Keep warm again (room temperature or higher) and keep evenly moist (but not overly waterlogged or too heavy on the moisture). It might be helpful to cover the top with plastic to maintain even soil moisture. Germination will occur over a longer period; don't discard your tray too early, as the seedlings will sprout in a staggered fashion; this is a natural process to ensure survival of the plant in Spring when weather can be unpredictable.
