This herbs sweet vanilla like scent is the breath of the Earth Mother, bringing the blessing of Mother Earth's love. Sweetgrass is burned to remind us of essence of the feminine and the earth provides us with everything we need. It is excellent for cleansing sacred space. Sweetgrass is a rare grass which is found growing wild in very few spaces in America. Native tribes in North America consider Sweetgrass a sacred plant - it is often used in prayer and smudging rituals. Our Beautiful sweetgrass braids are from Canada. These are collected by First Nations families for us each year ("First Nations" is the Canadian equivalent of "Native American"). Sweetgrass is considered sacred by many peoples of North America. The smoke of burning sweetgrass is said to purify and clear objects, places, and people. Often found in medicine bundles and sometimes packed with dance clothes to keep them fresh. This Native American botanical is typically braided, dried, and burned. Sweetgrass is traditionally burned along with Sage, as a sweet smelling, purifying incense, during tribal ceremonies. Each braid measures 34 to 36 inches in length and is close to 1/2 to 3/4 inches wide. Each braid is sold individually. Shipping for orders outside of the USA are calculated by destination.
