1 of 1000 Model 1873 Winchester Rifle Steve Hannagan One Of One Thousand Rare

Description: Titled; 1 of 1000 Model 1873 by Steve Hannagan “One Of One Thousand” There were supposedly 6 of these books produced by John R. Woods but then I believe there was another print of more copies, as I came across a few copies within a great gun book collection, so I have a few copies and will be selling them. Comes out to about 150 unnumbered single-sided pages, over 30 photocopy photographs. From research, I found a few copies have sold at Morphys Auctions, James Julia Auctions and others in the past from $3400 to $6000. The ones I have do not have John Woods hand written name as some did, so this is the following run? From a gun website that sold one, “Book details the “One of One thousand” rifles found in a nationwide search when Universal Pictures began production of “Winchester 73”. The book chronicles magazine articles, news releases, compiled Winchester museum records, affidavits from owners of subject Winchesters along w/ details of authentication & documentation. Of 720,610 of these lever action repeating rifles which were made, only 124 war of the super accurate variety known as the “1 of 1000”. These were the most sought-after guns of their time. One gun of this variety appears as the “hero” with James Stewart and Shelley Winters in the new Universal-International motion picture “Winchester 73” which glorifies this famous rifle. This prized gun was borrowed for use in the picture in the Museum of the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. of New Haven.” This original text served as the basis for RL Wilson’s “Winchester, The Golden Age of American Gunmaking and The Winchester 1 of 1000” published in 1983.” Some scuffs on this one, see photos and some marks from handling but all there, book is privately printed and is B&W with photocopies of articles, letters etc. some big names wrote in to Steve Hannagan including Granville Stuart’s family who had his 1 of 1000, that particular 1 of 1000 just sold at RIA auction for about $350,000 dollars I think!
